Plywood - Technology that takes minimum materials to greater value
“Plywood" is technology that takes multiple layers of thinly sliced wood into a mold, bending and bonding these thin pieces together to create wood that offers superior strength through minimum material use.
Not only does this technology use every bit of its precious resources, it brings great freedom of expression and thus, beautifully curved surfaces.
Additionally, the joints that connect chair seats with its legs as well as other areas that require particular durability are assembled using a process called “koma-ire seikei (forming of one shape using multiple pieces)" in which solid wood is sandwiched by plywood and applied with gradual pressure from the top and sides to unify the joints, bringing to life strength and durability that solid wood could only dream of.
