Seagrass - “Segrass” grows beautiful with age
1997, we met seagrass for the first time in Indonesia.
Seagrass is a water grass that is distributed widely across Southeast Asia known for its temperate humid climate.
Otherwise known as “triangle rush”, it is a plant strikingly similar to “common rush” used in tatami mats.
Seagrass is an ecological material that can be harvested several times a year as long as it is not pulled by its roots.
Its strands are thin yet flexible and its touch is much gentler than it looks. Furniture built through careful twining and weaving has in it a beauty and expression only possible to materials found in nature.
