WISE・WISE has focused on the materials used in its products and started taking action to see that legal materials are used as much as possible and shifted to a recyclable system using materials with a clear place of origin.

Wood is the most integral element in the furniture that we handle. Wood is a bio-mass resource (carbon neutral) that can be recycled infinitely as long as the forest in which it grows is managed sustainably. There is no limit to the resource in comparison to metal or plastic and the material’s properties have an overwhelming lead over other materials in terms of energy conservation. However, its direct impact on the forest’s ecosystem has constantly brought along the issue of deforestation.

Our goal is to use 100% Fair Wood by 2012. In other words, we will use only wood with clear place of origin and is managed in forests that ensure recycling of its resources. We will also be active in the handling of domestic materials and certified wood such as FSC.

The use of legal materials does not apply only to wood. It goes across all the materials used in all WISE・WISE furniture from rattan, lipao, sea grass and expanding further to our fabrics, metals, and adhesives.
